Spotlight Groove Productions is a full-service entertainment company specializing in Asian American Wedding with English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese speaking DJs and EMcees.

 

Spotlight Groove Productions is the preferred choice for the most Asian American wedding clients. Knowing that every client and every crowd is uniquely different, Spotlight Groove Productions specifically and carefully custom designs the music for each event. We work closely with each special client to discover their favorite music styles, preferred artists and songs.

 

Spotlight Groove Productions prefers a high energy dance experience. It is our purpose to have every guest on the dance floor. Reading the crowd is essential. We combine an eclectic mix of classic hits and current top 40 radio favorites to appeal to every guest regardless of their musical taste, age or style. The music never stops! We take no breaks! We want our guests dancing all night! We also realize the importance of bringing elegance and balance to each event. We never blast music that is so loud that guests are left feeling uncomfortable. We adjust our energy as guests are seated so that they can enjoy their conversation and resume dancing after dinner.

 

For events that are designed with only dancing in mind, our DJs bring a non-stop, high energy experience for the full event to the point of rave like experiences. We understand the importance of excellence and a flawless execution. It is the attention to details, the artistry and refinement that sets the standard. It is always our aim to exceed all expectations as we set our sights at being the best for every client.

 

We provide custom lighting design with LED wall uplights, custom monogram GOBO projection, intelligent lighting, and pin spots. In addition, we also provide photo booth, white dance floor, custom drapery, cold sparklers, and low-lying fog (dancing on the cloud) services.

DJ Jonsen:
Whether it be rocking a crowd of 20 or 2000, Jonsen has never left a dance floor empty in the past 15+ years. Jonsen started DJing college parties and formal events while attending UCSB as a freshman. His music knowledge ranges from big band swing of the 1920s to the latest club hits. Fluent in English and Cantonese, proficient in Mandarin.

 

Emcee Howard aka Lau Chuen Fung:
With over 15+ years of experience as a Radio Personality on AM1430 and a wedding Emcee, Howard will sure leave a lasting impression on you and your guests with his humor, energy, and candidness. Howard is fluent (read and write) in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Let me start off by saying THANKS SO MUCH to Jonsen and Howard. Jonsen was the DJ for our wedding dinner reception and Howard the MC. With my family comes chaos - there's always last minute changes and a ton of uncertainty between who's attending and who's not, who should be introduced first and who should be sitting where... I'm sure many readers feel the same. Howard and Jonsen took everything in stride, from table introductions, to pacing the evening, to playing the right music at the right times! The dinner reception was an English / Cantonese bilingual affair, but what I found really thoughtful was that when Jonsen learned I was Cambodian as well, he offered to play a bunch of 'hit' Cambodian sounds for the crowd! I've never seen so many Gen X Chinese/Cambodian people spring to their feet so quickly! I'd also like to mention one more detail - and that's just how good Spotlight Groove is with the kids in attendance. We had games ranging from scavenger hunts to the most stressful Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament I've ever witnessed, and I wasn't even participating! The kids left the night with such big smiles on their faces, and it really left me with a lasting impression on how special Howard and Jonsen are. You two rock!!!

TLDR: You're getting married in a Chinese restaurant and you need it transformed into something spectacular! Spotlight Groove Productions is your answer. They specialize in this and are able to make your dreams come true. We transformed 888 Restaurant (one of the OG restaurants in sgv/626) into a venue my relatives didn't even recognize! EXCEPTIONAL. PHENOMENAL. EXTRAORDINARY. These are the top adjectives that come to mind when I think about Jonsen and his team at Spotlight Grove Productions. I reached out to over 5 companies and ultimately chose Spotlight Grove because of their professionalism, experience, and customer service. Jonsen is easy to work with and provides quick and efficient solutions to ensure our vision came to life. He is very quick to reply to emails and texts, and if there is something he is unable to do, he will quickly recommend another vendor to help. The services that we used were lighting, draping, dance floor, and photobooth. In the middle of planning, we realized we wanted a larger dance floor, which was no problem for Jonsen to get completed. The wedding planning process is so stressful, so to have a vendor that is easily able to execute your visions (even when they change) is so important. He didn't ask any questions and simply said, "yes we can make that work." Those are the MAGIC words every bride loves to hear!! Photobooth - It was important for us to have a DSLR camera for our photobooth. We did not want an iPad taking pictures. Thankfully Jonsen uses a camera for his pictures and was able to give us digital copies of the photobooth pictures and all of the individual pics (without template). He also gave us creative freedom to design our own photobooth template. We loved the ones he had, but ultimately wanted something minimal with our logo. The outcome was fantastic. He is truly the BEST IN THE INDUSTRY. I will continue to recommend Jonsen over and over. If he had more services, we would have definitely used them as well! Overall, 11/10.

I recently had the pleasure of working with MC Howard and DJ Jonsen for my wedding, and they were absolutely amazing. From start to finish, they were professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Jonsen, in particular, was a lifesaver when it came to helping with the timeline and making suggestions. He was always willing to hop on Zoom calls with me whenever I needed help, and his expertise and guidance were invaluable. On the day of the wedding, he kept the music flowing and the energy high, and everyone had an absolute blast on the dance floor. We were recommended to Jonsen and his team by our vendor, and this was probably the best decision we made for our wedding. Jonsen and his team did an excellent job with decorations, lighting, music, photo booth, and the emcee-ing. During the planning phase, everything Jonsen said he'll take care of, he really did and he did so perfectly. Once I passed the task to Jonsen, I did not have to worry or stress about whether it'll get done, because Jonsen seemed so experienced and knew exactly what he was doing, and the final result turned out much much better than I had anticipated. Even when we decided some last minute additions, Jonsen came through for all of them. They really cater to what you want and how you want it to be done for your wedding, really respectful and helpful throughout the planning phase! My wife and I were extremely happy with their service and like I said, this was probably the best decision we made for our wedding and would 10/10 recommend them to anyone looking for an MC/DJ/photobooth/lighting/decoration!
